For over forty-five years, Road Runner Travel Resort has been a family-owned campground. Our children grew up in the park and began working here at a young age; their first job was bagging ice. As they matured, they took on more responsibilities, including maintaining the grounds, stocking shelves in the store, and operating the register. This family legacy has fostered a deep connection to the resort and its community.
From 1980 to the Early 2000’s
At Road Runner Travel Resort in Fort Pierce, our growth journey is closely tied to our commitment to enhancing the guest experience.
Starting in the early 1980s, we focused on modernization by renovating our bathhouse and laundry facility with state-of-the-art equipment and eco-friendly solar panels. We expanded our park by introducing new sections H and P and constructed a spacious Recreation Hall, guided by community member Howard Thompson. In 1983, we developed an additional ten acres and celebrated the grand opening of our new S section. My dad's role as a St. Lucie County
Commissioner highlighted our commitment to community leadership.
Moving into the early 2000s, we continued enhancing our infrastructure with road paving and street lighting projects, and we added a three-acre golf course, enriching the Road Runner experience amidst Florida's beautiful scenery.

Expansion and the Last 18 Years at
Road Runner Travel Resort
In 2003, we renovated the park entrance to accommodate larger RVs, which included widening the entrance and improving signage and landscaping. In 2004, Road Runner Travel Resort faced significant challenges when Hurricanes Francis and Jean hit the Treasure Coast.
We stood strong as a beacon of hope, providing aid and shelter to those affected by the storms. While we experienced minimal damage, we seized the opportunity to enhance our facilities, starting with the reconstruction of the porch area to create a welcoming entrance, complete with modern amenities like fans, TVs, and Wi-Fi.
The D section underwent a complete remodel in 2014, introducing twenty new 50-amp sites, while the pull-through section was transformed in 2015 with paver driveways and fireplaces for guest comfort. Our dedicated employees have been essential in providing a memorable experience, and as we look to the future, our commitment to offering top-quality service and accommodations remains steadfast. We invite you to experience our hospitality, whether you're seeking adventure, relaxation, or a home away from home on the road.
